Murphy's Craft

Support

Common Issues

Troubleshoot Craft installation, hidden recipes, tools, progression saving, inventory outputs and translations.

Check that you installed the intended Craft resource

The current paid Murphy's Craft and the older free crafting-menu resource are different implementations. A jo nil-value error led to this exact confusion in support. Do not add jo_libs to the paid product merely because an old ticket or file uses it.

Back up your configuration and progression data, compare the loaded folder with a complete current download, and check for duplicate or mixed Craft folders. Keep backups outside the active resources tree. Use shared/config.lua, the framework adapter and dependencies supplied with the current archive. See Installation.

Recipes and categories

A category is missing, or only one of several configured categories appears

A category with no accessible recipes can be hidden. Check one recipe at a time:

  1. The category key is present in the table, prop or station that you opened.
  2. The recipe is intentionally free-access, or its tree_ref corresponds to an actual specialization unlock.
  3. The player's job and grade meet both category and recipe restrictions.
  4. hideUntilCraftable is not hiding it because ingredients are missing.

Use freeaccess = true only for recipes that should be available without a skill-tree unlock. Do not add it to every recipe to mask a missing specialization file. Keep the complete existing recipe and change the one relevant property. See Recipes, Specialisations and Hidden Recipes.

The player has materials, but crafting is refused

Check item names against the inventory registry, quantities across slots, tool requirements, job grade and specialization unlocks. A visible recipe does not bypass server validation. For a tool choice such as knife A or knife B, the 1.14.0 alternative-tool feature uses anyOf; follow the complete example in New Configuration Options. Do not substitute a tool name where the configuration expects an ingredient group.

A world prop or station does not open the expected menu

Distinguish a crafting table, an automatically detected crafting prop and a persistent crafting station. Their definitions and opening APIs differ. Compare the exact category or station key with Crafting Tables, Crafting Props and Stations. If invoked by another resource, verify the documented export and arguments rather than inventing an OpenCraftingMenu event.

Progression, inventory and translations

Skill points or unlocked recipes are lost after restart

VORP progression saving was corrected in 1.4.1. Support also confirmed a case where both progression saving and weapon delivery worked after the official adapter updates. Update the full applicable release and preserve progression tables.

For a remaining case, record a test character's points and unlocks, wait for the configured save interval, then compare a controlled restart and reconnect. Include the first SQL error. A closed ticket without a confirmed solution is not evidence that resetting all players' points will fix the issue.

A VORP weapon craft gives an item or fails

Older tickets predate native VORP weapon/ammunition support added in 1.4.0. Verify the current adapter and the configured output against the installed release. Test one output and its inventory handling. Do not follow the obsolete blanket instruction that Craft can only ever return ordinary weapon items. Multi-output and split-inventory-slot fixes are also documented in 1.5.2.

The menu stays in French with Config.Locale set to English

Use Config.Locale = "en" in shared/config.lua. Craft 1.5.1 fixed hardcoded French specialization labels, including “Acquis” and “Annuler”. Update the matching UI and Lua translation files together, then reopen the affected screen. See Translation System.

The console shows UI errors or the server becomes slower over time

Capture the exact error and whether the menu still works. A historical reply accepting two specific non-blocking UI messages does not mean every JavaScript error is harmless. For performance, collect a profile with the affected operation and configuration size. Lowering Config.SaveInterval increases save frequency; it is not a general performance improvement. Keep development mode off and use Config.Debug only for a short diagnostic session.

Known issues by release

Check the installed version in fxmanifest.lua before applying a release-specific fix. Back up configuration and data before updating.

A client script can no longer grant specialisation XP

Release reference: 1.14.0. In 1.14.0, specialisation API events are server-only and XP is computed on the server. The client XP-request export is disabled by default through Config.AllowClientXPRequests. Keep trusted progression logic on the server; do not enable client requests as a generic repair.

A recipe or station is visible but crafting is refused

Release reference: 1.14.0. The 1.14.0 notes describe server enforcement of recipe, job, specialisation, and station restrictions. Verify the server configuration and required tools/ingredients. Visibility in an interface is not proof that the server should authorize the craft.

Configured station animations do not play

Release reference: 1.14.0. The public 1.14.0 notes include a fix for station animations that were ignored. Check the installed version and the animation configuration before changing the interface.

If the issue remains

Report the installed version, framework, first console error, reproduction steps, and expected versus actual result through support. Remove credentials and unrelated player information from attachments.
