Murphy's Job

Getting Started

Installation

Install and verify Murphy's Job with the correct resource, dependencies and configuration for your release.

Prepare the resource

Download the complete murphy_job resource from your customer assets. Check the installed version in fxmanifest.lua. Back up your working configuration and database before updating. Keep the resource folder name unchanged and place the manifest directly inside it, rather than nesting the extracted resource inside an extra download folder.

Dependencies and configuration

Start your framework, inventory and the database connector required by the downloaded manifest. Do not select mysql-async or oxmysql solely from an old example: an @oxmysql/lib/MySQL.lua import specifically requires oxmysql.

The store lists uiprompt, murphy_menu, murphy_notify, murphy_lockpick and murphy_discordlogs as dependencies. Match the actual archive and integrations you enable, and start dependencies before Job. Configure private log destinations in the logging resource.

Select the exact Config.framework value supported by the downloaded adapter. Define jobs and their activities through configuration using Job System. The boss interface is not an in-game editor for creating jobs.

Keep optional salary or other integration settings disabled unless their target resource is installed and configured. Register item rewards in your inventory and test weapons/ammunition separately. VORP weapon/ammunition fixes are documented in 1.1.1. Review and preserve existing database data before applying a release's schema changes.

Start and verify

After the dependencies and configuration in config.lua are ready, add the resource line:

server.cfg
ensure murphy_job

This is the resource's start line, not a complete server configuration. Check the first client/server error, then test one normal action with a test character. Verify the result after reconnecting where data should persist. Use Common Issues for the relevant symptom.

When merging an update, retain your settings while adding new required keys. Include UI, translation and adapter files listed in its release notes; changing only fxmanifest.lua does not update the implementation.
