Choose the interface language

Set Config.Locale in murphy_creator/shared/config.lua. For example:

Config.Locale = "fr"

Use a locale file present in the installed resource's ui/locales/ directory. English and French interface files are documented in the public 1.31.0 release notes. Check the files in your release for additional languages rather than assuming that every version has the same list.

Interface text and Lua menu labels

The public 1.33.0 notes identify a fix to the Lua menu translation path. Changing only a JavaScript locale will not translate text that is supplied by Lua.

Do not create a new locales.lua file or paste a Lang.fr structure from the previous version of this article. Those instructions did not match the files described here.

Change text safely

1. Back up the translation file from your installed release.
2. Change values without renaming keys, object names, or placeholders.
3. Keep quotes, commas, and braces valid for the file's language.
4. Reopen the interface in a test session and check the character form, selection labels, appearance controls, and confirmation dialogs.
5. Check long translations at a narrow resolution.

Adding a new locale also requires checking how that release loads locale files in ui/index.html and its locale helper. Copying a file alone is not a documented guarantee that it will be loaded.

Mixed or missing translations

Identify whether the untranslated label comes from the interface locale or from Lua. Include the label, selected locale, installed version, and a screenshot in a support report.
