Murphy's Creator

Features

Second Chance

Creator: Configure administrative appearance editing, select an online player and verify save, cancel and permissions.

Reopen appearance editing

Second Chance lets an authorized administrator reopen appearance editing for an online player. It is separate from creating a new character and from the appearance reload command.

The public Creator 1.29.0 release introduces the configurable command. Later release notes include fixes to Second Chance, so record the installed version before investigating a save or appearance issue.

Configuration

Edit the existing Config.Commands.secondChance entry in murphy_creator/shared/config.lua. Preserve the other entries in Config.Commands.

Example replacement for this entry only:

shared/config.lua
Config.Commands.secondChance = {
enabled = true,
command = "secondchance",
allowedRoles = { "superadmin", "admin" },
allowedIdentifiers = {},
}
Field Purpose
enabled Enables registration of the command.
command Chat command name, without a leading slash.
allowedRoles Configured roles used by adapters that implement role-based authorization.
allowedIdentifiers Explicit identifiers checked by the adapter.

Authorization is handled by the selected framework's server adapter. Do not assume one role lookup, permission order, or console-access rule applies identically to every framework. Verify a permitted administrator and an ordinary player in a test session.

Use the command

With the example command name above, enter:

text
/secondchance 5

Replace 5 with the target's current server player ID. It is not a character database ID. The target must be online. The inspected handlers validate the numeric target and whether the player exists before opening the menu.

Save and cancel

Ask the player to make a small, recognizable change, then save through the interface. Verify the result after the menu closes and again after reconnecting. Test cancellation separately, checking that the intended previous appearance returns.

Available appearance controls depend on the model and installed integrations. Do not promise that every NPC model supports the same makeup, overlays, hair, and clothing as a multiplayer model.

Second Chance is not a general character-data migration or a backup. The previous statement that it preserves all data in every situation was too broad. For characters originating from another creator, validate the exact release and framework path on a test copy before using it on a live character.

Troubleshooting

  • Command missing: check enabled, the configured name, and the first resource startup error.
  • Permission denied: check the active adapter's authorization rules.
  • Invalid target: use the current online server ID.
  • Menu freezes: review Creator 1.47.6 and the corresponding Barber/Clothing fixes in Known issues.
  • Save or cancel gives an unexpected result: record the model, resource versions, integrations, and exact reproduction steps.
