Controls and Common Questions
Controls and Common Questions for Murphy Menu.
How do players use it?
The menu supports moving between rows, confirming a selection, going back and adjusting sliders left/right. Cursor and typing behavior depends on the calling script's focus setting. That script also decides which key or interaction opens its menu.
No menu appears after installation
The library does not open a gameplay menu by itself. Use the action provided by your dependent script. For an integration test, use /docs_menu from Installation and API.
If the test works, check how the dependent script builds and opens its menu. If it fails, check the resource name, start order and first F8 error.
The API is empty or uses a different event
Get the API through murphy_menu:getData after the resource starts. Old examples for redemrp_menu_base do not use Murphy's event name. Keep one complete installation rather than combining Lua files and HTML from different menu libraries.
I cannot type or the cursor behaves incorrectly
Check the complete nine-argument Open call. The focus boolean belongs last, after the optional change and close callbacks. The integration must close its menu when finished so the library can release focus. Also check whether another resource opens an interface at the same time.
Images or fonts are missing
Verify that all html/ assets were copied. Image filenames and paths must match exactly, including case on Linux. A path pointing at another resource requires that resource and its file to exist. Check F8 for missing files before changing the menu styling.
My changes are not visible
Changing the menu's Lua data does not automatically redraw it. Call menu.refresh() after setting the title or changing elements. Labels and descriptions belong to the calling resource, so edit its configuration or translations.
Is this the radial wheel?
No. Murphy Radial Menu is a separate resource. An integration expecting murphy_menu:getData needs this vertical menu library.
Report an issue
Include the resource that opens the menu, your complete Open call, the first F8 error and whether the example menu works. Specify whether the problem affects selection, sliders, typing, images or closing.
